The Norman Asbjornson Innovation Center
Lab-tested excellence, backed by results
The Norman Asbjornson Innovation Center (NAIC) was designed to test and prove product performance beyond the standard AHRI ratings and position AAON as the technological leader in the manufacturing of HVAC solutions.
The lab’s advanced testing capabilities enable us to research and drive the innovation of quiet, energy-efficient equipment to meet our customers’ unique needs.
Certifications
AMCA 210
AMCA 300
This standard is used for the testing and measurement of sound power that fans produce. This in particular is applied to constant innovation in condenser fan development.
The premium facility to develop high-performing equipment
All AAON products undergo cutting-edge testing to verify thermal, airflow, and acoustic performance.
Product Development Testing
To continue innovating HVAC technology, the NAIC focuses on both current product and new product development.
Test Chambers
A comprehensive array of 12 calibrated testing chambers ensures unparalleled testing accuracy, aligning with industry standards set by AHRI and ASHRAE. These chambers allow testing capabilities between -20°F and 130°F to push the limits of operation.
Among these chambers is the largest psychrometric reverberation sound chamber in the world.
Environmental and Sound Testing
The NAIC is the only HVAC lab in the world capable of testing thermal and acoustic performance under full environmental load from -20°F to 130°F for HVAC equipment up to 540 tons.
Customized testing capabilities include up to 8 inches per hour of rain, up to 2 inches per hour of snow, and up to 50 mph of wind.
Customer Witness Testing
The lab provides a captivating and immersive experience for customers to witness their equipment’s real-world performance firsthand.
