GOVERNMENT FACILITY SOLUTIONS

  • About Government Facilities

Government buildings are structures that house various government agencies and departments at the federal, state, or local level. These can include administrative offices, courthouses, public libraries, police stations, post offices, and other government-run facilities.

The major HVAC challenges faced by government buildings are related to energy efficiency, comfort and air quality, security, maintenance and repair, budget constraints, and compliance with regulations. AAON is experienced in providing energy efficient HVAC solutions that maximize comfort and performance.

  • Government Facility Considerations

When implementing HVAC solutions in government facilities, the following considerations should be taken into account:

    Energy efficiency
Energy efficiency is an important consideration when it comes to HVAC solutions for government buildings. Given the size of government buildings, HVAC systems can consume a significant amount of energy, which can impact both the environment and operating costs. Therefore, it is important to choose HVAC systems that are energy-efficient and comply with energy standards and regulations.

    Indoor air quality
Indoor air quality is crucial in government buildings, as they are used by a large number of people. HVAC systems must provide proper ventilation and filtration to ensure that the indoor air is clean and healthy to breathe. Regular maintenance of HVAC systems is also important to ensure that they are functioning properly and providing optimal indoor air quality.

    Zoning and control systems
Zoning and control systems can help regulate the temperature and air flow in different parts of a government building, such as offices, conference rooms, and public areas. This can improve energy efficiency and ensure that occupants are comfortable throughout the building.

    Security
Government buildings often require enhanced security measures, which can include HVAC systems that are designed to prevent unauthorized access. For example, HVAC systems may have restricted access or security features to prevent tampering or vandalism.

  • Government Facility Solutions

The HVAC products recommended for government buildings may vary based on the type of facility, some of these may include:

    Air handling units
These units can provide ventilation, heating, and cooling to the building. Size and configuration can be matched to the interior locations available.

    Chilled beams
Chilled beams use water to cool the air in a room and are often used in government buildings due to their energy efficiency and quiet operation. Humidity control will need to be addressed with a separate system, such as modulating hot gas reheat.

    Energy Recovery
In the winter these systems recover heat from exhaust air and use it to preheat incoming fresh air, reducing the building's heating load. In the summer these systems precondition the incoming fresh air by transferring heat from the incoming air into the exhaust air, reducing the building’s cooling load.

    Packaged DX Systems
Heating, cooling and dehumidification is contained in a secured single packaged system allowing service and maintenance to be conducted from an isolated location on the rooftop.
